Summer is just around the corner.

Hip Hip Hooray!

Can you smell the grills cooking up the hamburgers and hear the kids splashing in the pool?  What about the air conditioners running and the smell of evening bonfires?

I can't tell you how ready I am for summer - especially being able to invite friends and family over for good ol' grilling out on the deck.
But hosting these get togethers can get pricey if you aren't careful.

So here are a few ideas to help keep you under your budget!

--Watermelon Salad -- Seedless watermelon is almost ALWAYS on sale during the summers and one watermelon can feed a TON of people!  Cut up the watermelon and add fresh blueberries for color.  The perfect sweet yet healthy and delish dessert for around $5.

--Hot Dog Bar -- This week at Meijer, you can grab a pack of hot dogs for $1 and a bag of 12 buns for $1.50.  When you catch these hot sales, stock up and throw them in the deep freeze - they freeze up great until your next use!  Then, when you have company, grill up the dogs and put out different toppings for your dogs, like shredded cheese, onions, chili sauce and relish, which you can grab all of these toppings for less than $2 each.  It's fun for the kids and adults as well as easy on your pocket!

--Strawberry Lemonade -- Who doesn't enjoy a good ol' glass of cold lemonade?  You can grab a large canister of lemonade mix at any grocery for around $1.  Add some fresh strawberries to the mix and serve over ice.  For the adults, add a splash of flavored vodka to spice up the party. :)

--S'mores -- When you think of campfire, of course S'mores come to your mind!  Keep an eye out for marshmallows during 10 for $10 sales.  You can also grab a coupon for $1 off 2 boxes of Honey Maid graham crackers at smartsource.com.  Don't have a campfire going?  Don't fret!  You can make them on a plate in the microwave in a mere 10 seconds!

Keep an eye out for our Memorial Day match-ups.  We'll be sure to give you more tips to save for entertaining your guests this summer!

Happy Summer! :)
