Mommy Mondays - Edible Playdough

Being this is my last three days before I head back to work for the new school year, I wanted to try a few more fun projects with the kiddos that I knew they'd enjoy!

I came across this super easy recipe for edible playdough on the site Make and Takes.  It is super easy to make and I bet all the ingredients you need to make it are in your pantry right now!

You'll need:
1 cup of Peanut Butter
1/2 cup of Honey
2 cups of Powdered Sugar

Mix the ingredients together in a bowl and you've got some yummy playdough! 
Yes, that's it. 
Told you it was easy! 
One helpful tip that I got from the site was to coat your measuring cup with cooking spray before pouring the honey into it.  When I did that, the honey literally just slipped right out into the bowl and made mixing a lot easier.

We sure had fun with this recipe!  Even though my son pretty much had it for snack, we still had a blast getting sticky and gooey. 

Even, the dog enjoyed a few morsels. :)

It's the perfect solution to a rainy or SUPER hot day -- especially when you've got a grumpy one. :)

So grab your cookie cutters, bowls and spoons and start mixing away!

snackTAXI Giveaway

The time has come and I just need to be honest with myself.
Summer Vacation officially ends on Wednesday.

(Yes, I am crying real tears as I write this post.)

But that means it's back to the daily grind and back to the sitter for my little monkey.  One of my favorite things I do for him is pack his lunch and snacks for him everyday.  Even though my sitter will provide lunch for him, I feel like this is one way to make him remember that I'm always thinking about him when I'm away from him -- even if he is just 22 months.

But one thing we are constantly going through are plastic baggies.  When you think about how many you use on a daily basis, it really is outrageous.  I know that I pack at least 4 baggies in his lunch for him a day. 
That's 20 baggies a week and 80 plastic baggies a month.
Seriously -- too much!!

Fun Kroger Finds!

So, I decided to get out for some peace and quiet tonight and wander around Kroger. . . . pathetic that I have to go grocery shopping for some peace, I know. I slooooowly walked up and down the aisles looking for some deals that weren't advertised or that I may have missed in the ad.


I am a sucker for the Buy 10, Save $5 deals. Check out this Fresh Take deal! It's has a blinkie right under the product for another $1.00 off! I LOVE these Fresh Take things. They are super yummy and easy for a quick dinner. I only got two,  but took a couple extra coupons for a rainy day . . . . shhhhhh.

 

I always spend a lot of time in the condiment aisle. I don't know why. There's always a lot to look at! I remembered that I had a Weber BBQ sauce coupon in my binder. Mommy Mondays - Wa Wa?

Alright, enough about this heatwave people!  

Honestly, I don't mind the hot weather and the sun -- give me a pool or boat and I'm good for a couple of hours.  However, I do get a little bored trying to find new activities inside after nap time when the heat is too redic to be outside.

Any mom knows the importance of staying hydrated during this weather.  Whether it's playtime at the park, swimming at the pool or splashing around in the sprinkler, we must make sure our kiddos are drinking plenty of water!  My son only likes his "wa wa" right before bed - not sure why, but that's the only time he'll drink water.  And when we do juice, it's 1/3 juice the rest water, so basically all water but he still favors water only at nighttime.  I wanted to find a way to encourage my monkey to drink water, especially since he loves to play hard during this heat wave!

When we were at IKEA, I found these adorable little ice cube trays shaped like fish for $0.99.  So I

 I had a thought -- what about making flavored ice cubes for his wa wa?  Super easy and I had all the materials in my pantry!

Prepping and making the ice cube literally takes less than 5 minutes!

I love Splenda, however I don't use it in things that my son eats.  So as I made the Kool-Aid, I used less sugar than suggested.  I then poured the Kool-Aid into the tray to make the ice cubes and stuck it in the freezer.

And what a hit!  

My son loves to shake his cup with the cubes and look at the little fishies while he drinks it.  Such a simple solution to help hydrate my little monkey during these hot summer days!

  Sometimes it's the little things we forget about that make our life as mommies easier...right?
