It's Bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!
Michele here, and it's my first Mommy Monday post! Of course, it's a day late because that's how I roll. I think I'll blame it on Kait. She made me drink margaritas last night. :)
Bananas are a hot item in my house. Approximately once a week Kroger discounts their "old" bananas. They are the ones with the red sticker wrapped around them that say "value priced." They are almost half the price of a regular bunch. Sometimes they look better than the full priced ones!
With the price of bananas on the rise, I always snatch up a bunch! My little one is a big fan of fruit salad in the morning and plus they are easy to grab and throw in the diaper bag when you are on the run. If they don't get eaten up, I love making my grandma's banana bread recipe. I am not much of a baker in any way . . . . I have a habit of putting something in the oven and then forgetting about it.
So, if you have a Kroger around you check it out. If not, ask your local grocer about what they do with their aging produce. You may be surprised!
