Mommy Mondays - Tasty Treat to Beat the Heat!

Monday, July 2, 2012

This summer has been a new adventure for me - moving into a new house and surviving life with a wild toddler!  My main focus is spending time with family and finding new activities and interests for my little monkey.  Considering we've had record high temperatures this summer, I've been racking my brain trying to find new foods and things we can do to keep cool.

Since we've introduced my son to "real" table foods, he's started to become rather picky.  So, anything that I can make to sneak in those fruits and veggies is a must!  I've done pureed colors into foods like macaroni and cheese but now I wanted to do something cold.

Let's be real here, what kid refuses a sweet frozen treat?

We're both a huge fan of YoToddler's yogurt where they mix in the fruit and veggies -- but it's even yummier as frozen yogurt!

It's super easy too -- here's what you do!

--Scoop your yogurt into small cups or bowls.  I suggest buying the paper Dixie cups -- perfect for those little hands!

--Stick your cups into the freezer upright and let freeze for about an hour.

--Serve and enjoy!

See, I told you it was easy!

Here's a few more tips you can try out:
--Consider a vanilla yogurt and blend in spinach.  The favor is completely disguised!

--Add fruit such as strawberries and blueberries and make fun shapes and faces into the frozen yogurt.

--Add a popsicle stick into your cup before you freeze it - eating frozen yogurt on a stick is much more fun!

Anything to beat the heat and add more nutrients to my Monkey's diet -- that makes momma and baby happy!

Happy Mommy! :)
