Terrible TWOSday - Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

My son is literally OBSESSED with  planes, trains, trucks, cars - anything with wheels basically. Recently we completed his room with a touch of a plane theme.

(I'm secretly obsessed with this reading corner.  I wonder how I can get it to work in my room...)

I find the age of two so fascinating.  While yes, we have our fits and fumbles, but he's growing up into a little man right before our very own eyes.  I love that he can tell me things that he likes and how he shows such a great interest in specific things.  The other day we were driving down the highway and got suck in construction (the same construction that has been going on for over a year now...) and he was so enamored with the bulldozers and concrete trucks pouring the new bridge and road.  He kept saying, "Mommy look! Wow Mommy!"  I feel like we are starting to have real conversations together about his interests and it makes me love him even more.

Whenever we go play in his play room, we always have to spend time making ramps for his cars or racing them down his slide.  His new thing is seeing which cars he can get to go around his racetrack.  However, sometimes he does feel the need to get in on the action.

All boy, right?

My husband and I ventured out to the grocery yesterday to pick up all of our Thanksgiving goodies with Coco in tow.  The grocery has a car cart which he loves and luckily my husband found a bunch of Match Box cars on sale so that was Coco's reward for being so great in the store.  I love how we can use his interests as positive reinforcement to help reward the good behaviors.  Plus it was extra sweet when he carried them around like little babies and went to nap and night night with him.

Being a mom is the best feeling in the world.  Yet Coco continues to challenge my patience on a daily basis, it's the little things like the cars or planes that make him happy, which makes me happy too.

Happy TWOSday! :)
