Terrible TWOSday - A Day in the Life of a SAHM

Tuesday, January 1, 2013

I honestly believe that a teacher gets two weeks vacation during the holidays to enable one's sanity once again.
And my sanity is half way back in check.

However, I thoroughly enjoy the time I get to spend with Coco and my hubster.  This break has been so nice, especially since Coco is a year older than last break.  We play, run errands and dance to music.  It makes me really wish I could be a stay at home mom fulltime.

So, I thought I'd share a day in the life of a SAHM - the kind of day that I would LOVE to experience everyday if I didn't teach.

Here we go...

9:00 -- This break has been amazeballs because Coco has decided that 9:00 am is an acceptable time to wake up.  I definitely am not complaining.  We start off the day with a breathing treatment and 'toons.  I pray that there are some good 'toons on because otherwise the breathing treatment is a workout for mama.

9:30 - - Breakfast time!  Nom nom.  Coffee time.  Ahhhh.

This baby bedhead is just too much.

10:00-12:30 -- We spend these few hours getting dressed, playing in the toy room and today, dancing to Gangham Style at least fifty times.

Check out that action shot.  He's got the "Oh oh oh!" down good.

12:30 - Lunchtime!  Pizza, veggie chips and cheese.  Double nom nom!

1:00-1:30 - On this particular day we spend the after lunch time watching Little Einsteins and waiting for dad to come home early from work.  Coco then busts out the crocodile tears which breaks Dad's little heart thus allowing him to stay up for another 20 minutes watching football.
Sucker.

2:00-4:00 -- Nap time for Coco.  Treadmill and Jillian Michales for Mama.  Oy.

4:00-5:30 -- Back to the playroom to play with our abundance of toys.  We also spend time dancing again and running laps around the house screaming at an octave higher than an Opera singer.

Of course this is a place to stand mom, not a racecar track

5:30-6:00 -- Mama preps and prepares dinner.  If dad's not home we'll  play kitchen.  Coco will stir imaginary food in a bowl or decide the pan lids make great cymbals.  We also enjoy playdough or coloring at the kitchen table.

6:00-6:30 - Dinner with the family.

6:30-7:30 -- Playtime again!  Sometimes we'll watch a little Doc McStuffins or play basketball in the basement.  Today we played cars and planes on all the furniture.

This is what the playroom looks like at the end of the day.

7:30-8:00 -- Bath time!  Coco is obsessed with his new bath basketball hoop that Santa brought.  Kudos, Santa.  Now bath is a bit easier to lure him towards.

8:00 -- Book and bed.  Don't forget the airplane with dad!

8:00 and on...  Quiet time for mom and dad.  This is where I play clean the kitchen, laundry washing or Reality TV catchup.

Sometimes a nightcap is in order...Skinny Girl anyone?

I love my time off and I honestly could get used to being a SAHM.  All you SAHMs out there, I do envy you and it's a seriously hard job but I love spending time with Coco.
But I think I'd miss my friends, coworkers and kiddos too much not to go back to work.  And I think Coco would miss his friends at the sitter too.
Oh yeah, and the extra $$ to spend on my shopping addiction...

Happy TWOSday! :)
