Adelina Madelina Diaper Bag Review

Monday, August 26, 2013

Ever since I found out  Baby #2 was a girl, my mind has been fixated on hair bows, dresses and anything and everything girly.  I knew right away I needed a new diaper bag because the one I have for Cohen is a really great one but let's face it - I needed something trendy for this Mama of 2.

I came across Adelina Madelina's line of diaper bags and fell in love with them!  There are so many styles and colors to choose from that you are sure to find one that fits all of your needs.  I also learned that Adelina Madelina gives 1% of their sales to the Autism Research Institute - so you are purchasing an amazing diaper bag and giving back to the community at the same time!
I decided I really liked the idea of a diaper bag that could be worn as a backpack but also transformed into a shoulder bag if needed so I went with the Breeze Back Pack in the cloud/lime colors.   But my decision was seriously hard because the choices are all too cute.  I was super impressed with the designs and colors because the diaper bags look like trendy street bags or purses -- perfect for a fashion forward mom like myself.

I ended up getting my bag in the mail after my first day of school and I felt like a kid on Christmas!  My Adelina Madelina diaper bag was exactly what I was looking for with this new baby!  The straps can be easily adjusted and switched from backpack to shoulder strap.  Plus the diaper bag is FULL of pockets - which makes organizing simple and your job less of a hassle because you can put things in certain pockets and know where to find them when you look into your bag.  (Not that I have that problem or anything...)  Another plus about this amazing diaper bag is the plastic reusable wipe case that is included.  You can store a bunch of wipes in this case and just throw it in your Adelina Madelina bag rather than dealing with an entire package of wipes -- just refill and go as you need them!

I decided to test my Adelina Madelina diaper bag out on our recent adventure to the Indiana State Fair.  As you know, a State Fair is quite a popular event so I knew this would be the perfect time to try out my bag, especially with a busy toddler on my hands.  It worked out perfectly for our trip as I threw in my wallet, an extra change of clothes in case of an accident, my 32 oz water bottle, snacks and two sippy cups for Cohen and still had plenty of room in the bag.  As soon as we got to the fair I was able to wear my Adelina Madelina bag as a backpack as we ventured throughout the exhibits, barns and food vendors and not get a sore shoulder from all the pressure on just one side like my other one strap diaper bag.  Another great feature about this bag is the ability to zip and clasp the bag shut making it hard for people to try to snag your goodies out of your bag when you aren't looking.  I felt completely comfortable with my diaper bag backpack on my back because I knew there was almost no way someone would be able to get into my bag without my knowledge unless they were willing to knock down a helpless pregnant lady -- and trust me, that wasn't happening.

So far my Adelina Madelina diaper bag has traveled not only to the Indiana State Fair but to the splash pad, pool and even the park.  I am so excited to finally have found a diaper bag that is not only super functional but cute and trendy making my life as a mom just that more stylish.

Terrible TWOSday - Our First Day of Preschool

Tuesday, August 20, 2013

Last week we embarked on another adventure in our year as a two year old -- Cohen started full day preschool!

Since his birthday is in the beginning of October, he missed the school cutoff here in Indiana by a little over a month.  So he wasn't able to start the 2 year room until this year even though he will technically be 3 for the majority of his school year.  I'm okay with him being older in his grade because I was and I turned out alright...or at least I think I did.

The few weeks prior to his first day were spent preparing Cohen for school - or at least trying to prepare him.
Since I start school now way too early, he got to spend a week with his old babysitter - who he absolutely loves and she loves him.  (She's actually having another baby so when Baby Sissy goes to her next year, she'll have a friend to play with that's about her same age!)  But we kept reminding him, "This is your last week at Tara's.  Next week you start school!"  She even spent time teaching him how to introduce to himself to his new friends.  It's hilarious because you'll ask him, "What's your name?"  and he'll reply with "Coh-nen" or "Coco."

I also took him to pick out his backpack and lunchbox to take with him to his new school.  I had all of these wonderful visions of his matching Pottery Barn backpack and lunchbox that were personalized with his name.
However, do you think that happened?
Of course not.
My son insists on a Cars backpack and Angry Birds lunchbox.
You win some.  You lose some.

So the big day arrived....

Luckily Kurtis is the drop off person in the morning so I didn't have to head to my job with a tear stained face and red, swollen eyes.  I knew he'd be scared because he kept telling us he wanted to go see Tara.  Apparently going to school and getting into the building was a breeze.  Like I've mentioned earlier, he's a lover and loves to say hello to everyone and their mother.  So he walked into school saying hi to everyone and making sure people knew he was there.
Then, it was time for drop off.
Cohen's class was in the gym at the time.  As Kurtis tried to walk away we had a full blown freak out meltdown.
I think it was just as hard on Kurtis as it was on Cohen.

I spent all day watching the clock and just wishing for the time to hurry up.
Finally 3:35 arrived and I rushed out of the door to see my Boo Boo.

When I got to school to pick him up he was happy as a clam playing with his friends and a center of dinosaurs.  The second he saw me he ran over to me and kept saying, "Mama! Don't leave!" but not in a crying way but in a "Okay, I'm cleaning up my mess while you get my stuff and then you're taking me with you" kind of tone.  We then left school  hand-in-hand together.

The last few days we've had a few tears at drop off but I think it now depends on how tired he is from the night before.  The kid refuses to go to sleep before 9 even if he's in bed by 8:30.  I'm hoping we can finally get back into our school routine here soon.

So here are go on another new adventure.  I really love his new school and he will definitely stay in school when Baby Sissy arrives.  But as hard as this last week was at times, I'm for sure glad that we made the decision to start school with him now.

Happy Family!

Wallaby Organic Kefir Giveaway

Saturday, August 17, 2013

I truly do miss my morning coffees.  Actually, scratch that.  I miss my morning iced coffees.  So I decided I needed something to fill that morning drive void.  I've been begging Kurtis to get a new blender so I can make smoothies but he refuses until we can purchase a Ninja.
Seriously - whatev hubs.

In the meantime, I had been buying the expensive organic smoothies from the grocery.  They are great and tasty but quite hard on the pocket.  On my last trip to Whole Foods I came across a great product from Wallaby Organic that I knew I had to try.  Wallaby Organic Lowfat Kefir is a smooth probiotic beverage that can be used in smoothies or other recipes or even just simply sipped as a normal drink!  This Lowfar Kefir offers a thicker consistency that is comparable to a smoothie and is made with organic milk and fruit.  Plus it has been associated with many different health benefits and one serving is 150 calories!  My favorite flavor is strawberry, but this Lowfat Kefir also comes in blueberry, vanilla and plain.  I LOVE how it tastes! Wallaby Organic Lowfat Kefir is smooth and creamy and tastes just like a smoothie I would make at home.

The price is even more great -- a 32 oz bottle of Wallaby Organic Lowfat Kefir retails for $4.29!  One bottle is a week's worth of morning smoothies for me which makes it about $0.60 a day for my morning wake-me-up drink.  This Lowfat Kefir is so much more affordable and still offers the same great taste as my other store bought smoothies with even more health benefits!

Wallaby Organic Lowfat Kefir is a smooth and creamy beverage that offers amazing health benefits for you and your family.  For more information on their Lowfat Kefir, visit Wallaby Organic's website.

Buy It:
--Visit your local Whole Foods store to pick up your bottle of Wallaby Organic Lowfat Kefir.  Suggest retail price is $4.29.

Win It:
--Three (3) lucky winners will win four (4) bottle of their choice of Wallaby Organic Lowfat Kefir.  Winners will be sent four coupons to purchase their Kefir at their local Whole Foods store.  This giveaway is run via Rafflecopter. The more entries completed, the better your chances of winning! Open to US residents only.

As you can see a majority of this week's best deals are using Kroger's digital coupons.  Apparently they really pushing their ecoupons since they no longer double for us Central folks.  However, many of them you can use up to 5 times in one transaction which is really good!  I have the app and just browse and clip while laying in bed -- less mess my friends and just an easy click!

Don't forget to clip your Friday Freebies under beverages for a free can of Throttle!  Love these Friday freebies!!

Alright it is almost 10 and that is totally past my bedtime.

Happy Shopping! :)

Baby #2 Update: 25 Weeks

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

Welp, I officially feel HUGE.
For real this time.

And I guess I love taking pictures after a long day's work when I look like I'm about ready to pass out from tiredness.

Brady's still not amused with Baby Sissy - obvi.

I guess I completely forgot how I would feel and look pregnant.  And I remembered thinking, "How in the world am I ever going to get bigger?"
Well it happens and I did.
And I'm thinking the same thing this time around.
It will happen and I will...even though I feel completely bigger this time around.

How are things going now you ask?
Due date:   November 25th -- I hope that I go a little earlier or even a little later I guess.  I'm just hoping she's not a Thanksgiving baby even though I'm truly thankful for her.  However, Mama wants some homemade green bean casserole and stuffing Little Girl!

Gender: Team Pink my friends! And the shopping sprees have officially started.  I hit up Carter's last weekend and went wild and crazy.  I'm trying to avoid Gymboree because I know I'll get grounded by my husband if he sees my receipt after leaving that place...

How do I feel?  Really good except for the restless legs still.  I wake up with sore calves because I assume they've been moving all night.  I've also been extremely tired these last few weeks because of school starting, but I'm getting good about sleep catch up on the weekends!  This week I have really felt contractions going on, especially in the morning and night.  My doctor said I'll be able to feel them more because I've already had a baby but I didn't think they'd start so early.

Cravings/Aversions?  Nothing still, however I made the mistake of buying M&M ice cream sandwiches at the store and could have sat down and ate an entire box.  I didn't (unlike my husband) but they sure were heavenly.

How do my clothes fit? The majority of my clothes are maternity clothes except for a mix of maxi dresses and cardigans.  I have missed my weekly yoga pants and running shorts wardrobe since school started back up again.

Sleep:  I wake up at least once to hit the bathroom.  However last week I knew I was exhausted when my alarm went off and I realized I didn't get up once in the middle of the night!  These 7:20 teacher hours are for the birds -- even my dog stays in bed which says a lot considering he loves his food in the morning.

Movement:  Lately she has been super busy at all times of the day.  Today I had a dentist appointment and you could see her moving my arms as they rested on my stomach. She sure is busy in there!

My Exercise Routine: Oye, with the burden of work back in the picture it gets harder and harder to drag my butt out for a workout.  But I can no longer run without constant pressure so we will take long family walks and I'll throw in a lower body or upper body workout.  I just got a Barre Pregnancy DVD and I'm officially obsessed  I love Barre workouts because it is low intensity but you work deep into your muscles and you totally feel it the next day.  I'm highly considering getting into it and becoming an instructor after Baby Sissy comes.

Just a few more weeks left until the third trimester, which is absolutely crazy!  We started converting the basement into the toy which and Cohen absolutely loves it.  Unfortunately we discovered that we have just too many toys and they don't all want to fit in the basement...
#spoiledkidproblems

There's so much to do still in these last three months that I probably should get on before Baby Sissy decides to come.

Happy Baby! :)

Dear Cohen - Just the Two of Us

Wednesday, August 7, 2013

 Dear Coco,
Mama can hardly believe that summer is over and work has started all over again.  This summer was a whirlwind that's for sure!  But I feel so blessed to be able to spend my summer vacations with you.  We got to spend just about seven long weeks with one another and I'm amazed to see how much you've grown in those two short months.  You sure are a chatterbox my little man.   It's like one day you woke up and decided you would talk in complete sentences.  You are extremely personable too.   I can't go anywhere without you saying hello to people or waving until you get their attention.  Your newest trick is saying bye bye to everyone as we leave - cashiers, strangers, receptionists - you name them, you are charming them.  I have to giggle because you're not even three and such the ladies' man.  But I knew you'd be a little stud from the second you were born.

We got to enjoy lots of time outside this summer.  Well, when it wasn't rainy or unseasonably cold.  You are at a super fun age where we can play together or you choose to play independently.  We spent several days at the splash pad by our house.  I hope to be able to visit it at least one more time before summer's end.  There is nothing sweeter than hearing your sweet little laugh and watching that big smile on your face as you conquer the sprinklers and splashes.  We also were able to spend some time at our neighborhood pool.  You have become quite brave my little one with your Puddle Jumper.  Your favorite activities were jumping off the side of the pool and swimming into the deep end of the big pool.  But the most priceless moment of our pool days was when you, my one and only stinker, pulled a dead mouse out of the filter in the baby pool. So fearless...and such a boy.

But the most special part of this summer is the fact that this is our last one before Baby Sissy joins the family.  While we still will be able to enjoy our adventures to the park, pool, splash pad and other fun places, next summer we will have a little baby joining our fun.  We will welcome her with open arms nonetheless but you'll now have to share my attention with your Sissy.   You, my little man, have brought nothing but pure joy to our lives.  Your Dada and I prayed and hoped for you for so long and finally we were blessed with this perfect, fireball of joy.  This third and final summer together, just the two of us, was perfect my little Monk.  I can officially call you a Mama's Boy -- and it may drive your Dad nuts that you have become so mommy dependent these last few weeks.  But your little voice, contagious laugh and adorable smile just melt my heart whenever I think about it.  As you continue to grow into a little man, my heart will continue to grow full of all of our fun memories ahead as well as remember the ones before  - just the two of us.

I love you Monkey!
Mama

Target MatchUps for the Week of 8/4

Tuesday, August 6, 2013

I have been to Target twice in the past two days.
Oops.

And I have hit the children's clothing clearance pretty well - boo yeah.

It all started with needing just a backpack for Cohen's first day of preschool...

So how about some other deals to snag this week at Target?
--Reach floss - $0.92.  Use $1 off printable.  Final Price: FREE

--Gillette Shave Prep - $1.79.  Use $1 off (RP 8/4).  Final Price: $0.79

--Balance Bars - $0.87.  Use $1/2 (RP 8/4).  Final Price: $0.37 each when you buy 2.

--Eggo Waffles - 2/$4.  Use $1/2 (RP 8/4).  Final Price: $1.50 each when you buy 2.

--Snickers or Milky Way mini candy bites - 3/$8.  Use $1 off (RP 7/28) and $1/2 Target coupon (target.com).  Final Price: $0.91 each when you buy 2.

--Market Pantry sauce and pasta - $1.00.  Use $1/Sauce and Pasta  Target coupon (target.com).  Final Price:  $0.50 each when you buy 2.

--Bic mechanical pencils - $0.99.  Use $1 off (SS 8/4).  Final Price: free

--Papermate ballpoint pens - $0.90.  Use $1/2 Target coupon (target.com).  Final Price:  $0.40 each when you buy 2.

Be sure to check out your store's selection of summer clothing clearance.  I snagged Cohen a ton of shirts for next summer for $1.50 each.  Plus Baby Sissy also got a few adorbes outfits herself.

Also the summer sandals were all on sale as well.  I found a pair I was LOVING but they weren't quite as on sale as I was hoping.  So I'm crossing my fingers that they go even lower later this weekend.

Well, this teacher is off to bed.
I heard that...

Happy Shopping! :)

Review: Gumdrop Ipad Case

Sunday, August 4, 2013

Cohen is OBSESSED with the iPad.  And let's get real here -- there is no such thing as a gentle two and half year old boy.  So I was on the hunt for a great case for my iPad that was durable, cute and  would still make the iPad easy to use.

During my research I came across Gumdrop Cases.  Right away I knew this was the perfect product for our family.  The cases are super cute and trendy as well as functional.  Plus the teacher in me was highly impressed with their involvement with schools around the country.  Gumdrop Cases are perfect for individuals, families and even schools and districts looking for quality protection of their technology used within their classrooms.

I decided on the Drop Tech Designer Series in Yellow/Blue for my iPad 2.  This case offers shock absorption and drop protection which were two priorities that were high up on my list for a case.  The case also provides multiple layers of protections and will conform to the shape of your iPad so there is no need to worry if the Gumdrop Case will be too big or bulky.  It was super easy to put on my iPad too with the snap-on integrated screen.  I simply opened it up, slipped in my iPad, snapped on the screen and voila!  My Gumdrop Drop Tech Case was in full protection mode!

I am definitely happy with my choice of the Gumdrop iPad Case.  This case has been a huge lifesaver - whether it is on car trips, a grocery store stop or even a dinner at a restaurant.  I no longer have to fear that the iPad will drop, break and shatter into a million pieces because I know how well protected it is with my Gumdrop Case.  Hey, if it's two year old resistant (and let me remind you - a super busy two year old boy resistant) then you know it will work wonders for you!

For more information on the Gumdrop Drop Tech Designer Series iPad case or any other product that Gumdrop offers, visit their website.
You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Happy (and protected) iPad! :)
This product review was made possible by Gumdrop Cases.  I was not compensated for this review other than a product sample. All opinions are 100% mine.

CVS Match Ups for the Week of 8/4

Today is a GORGEOUS Sunday!  I'm super excited too because there is not a single cloud in the sky, the temps are in the low seventies and I'm planning on reading my Kindle in the sun during nap time.
Plus I've already been to the grocery, cleaned the house and prepared breakfast sandwiches and burritos for the month that have been prepped and put in the freezer.

Now ask me if this will happen again in the near future?
Probably not -especially since tomorrow is the first full week of school.
