CoverGirl Bombshelll Collection + $100 Walmart Gift Card Giveaway

Friday, January 31, 2014

Today was a glorious day!
Why you ask?
Well a few things.
First, Fridays are my rest day from working out so I have some extra "me" time in the day.  Therefore I have more time to get ready.  So today I actually did my hair, put on makeup AND put on for real clothes.

But another reason is not because Lola took a two hour...because she didn't.  But because I got to try out my new CoverGirl Bombshell products I purchased from!  I love my makeup.  I'm not one that puts on a huge makeup production but I do love to try different colors with my eyes and then when I find what I like, I usually stick with that combo for awhile.  So I started out with three basics in the CoverGirl Bombshell collection.

Here's what I got:

COVERGIRL Bombshell Shine Shadow by LashBlast
Shine Shadow is a sexy shimmer and shine shadow that lasts all night. Shine Shadows feature reflective pigments that play with light to bring dimension to any look.  They are available in six different shades and each shadow is easy to apply and leaves behind a creamy shimmer finish.
I chose Platnum Card but be sure to look for Ice Queen, Color Me Money, Gold Goddess, Copper Fling and Ooh La Lilac.

COVERGIRL Bombshell Intensity Liner
You want your Bombshell eyes to stand out so your liner should live up to the look.  The Intensity Liner is a precision felt tip pen with a smooth formula that glides on for a little or a lot of deep, dark sexy.   I chose the long wear Intesnity Liner in Pitch Black Passion but it also comes in Chocolate Kiss.  Either way, both liners provide liquid intensity for 24 hours of sexy Bombshell eyes.

COVERGIRL Bombshell Volume by LashBlast™ Mascara
Bombshell Volume mascara is now the best-selling CoverGirl product at Walmart! This entirely new mascara experience, unlike any other two-step offering available, features a first-of-its-kind Boost System that has two brushes and two formulas for MEGA VOLUME and DRAMATIC INTENSITY.
Here's how it works:
Step 1: Extreme volume basecoat that loads on the volume with a big brush and mega-volumizing formula to thicken lashes; the result is volume that’s even and clump-free.

Step 2: Dark, intensifying topcoat that seals the look with a dark, smooth finish; the proprietary micro-thin lacquer offers maximum impact and lasting power in just one coat

Volume by LashBlast Mascara comes in Very Black, Black (my choice), Black/Brown and Brown.

I'm a huge fan of this collection so far!  Check out my video below on how I used my CoverGirl Bombshell products to create that bombshell look!

Now, here's the fun part!  Ready to purchase your own CoverGirl Bombshell products to create your own look?  Well, how about a $100 Walmart gift card to get your shop on?

Wordless Wednesday - A Growing Heart

Wednesday, January 29, 2014

After I had Lola, one of my doctor's came in and was chatting with us.  She had her daughter in the summer and has a son as well.  I told her I was nervous about loving Lola as much as I love Cohen.  She put it perfectly by saying your heart only doubles in size with love.

Happy Wednesday! :)

Vaska Perfect Laundry Detergent - So Safe You Can Drink It

As long as I can remember my skin has been super sensitive.  I used to break out in crazy itchy rashes if I tried new washes, lotions or even laundry detergents.  Since I know how sensitive I was when I was little, I'm extra careful when trying new products out on Cohen and Lola.  Laundry has always been one of those things that I've stuck to the same brand of detergent because I know how change used to upset my skin so much when I was little.  When I was asked if I wanted to try Vaska Perfect Laundry Detergent, I was a little hesitant because that meant one thing -- change.

I did my research on Vaska before I tried it out on my family's laundry.  Vaska Perfect Laundry Detergent is a hypoallergenic and organic laundry detergent that is made from natural ingredients taken from a variety of herbs.  It still offers tough cleaning agents that get rid of that dirt, smells and stains that are left behind on your clothing, which is extremely important with two little ones.  Vaska is perfect for sensitive skin and fabrics and is free of things like pollutants, dyes, irritants and toxins.  Therefore when you wash your clothes with Vaska, they come out feeling and looking great as well as fresh but don't harm you, your clothes and even the environment.  Apparently Vaska is so safe that you can even drink it!  Don't worry, I didn't try that one out.

So was I sold on Vaska Perfect Laundry Detergent?
Well, I decided to test it out so I washed a load of my family's towels and sheets with a Vaska laundry tablet.  After washing and drying the load of laundry, I was impressed with how soft and fresh the laundry really felt!  But how would it hold up on the skin of my little ones?  We have been using the towels we used with the Vaska and their skin has been just fine -- no rashes, blemishes, nothing.
Vaska passed the test with my family!

Check out Vaska Perfect Laundry Detergent's website to learn more about this amazing product for your family.  Vaska can be purchased online at and

Be sure to head on over to Vaska Perfect Laundry Detergent's Facebook page to enter to win a $500 Cost Plus World Market gift card and a year's worth of Vaska!

Make it a Date Night In for Valentine's Day with K-Y Yours+Mine #ad

Monday, January 27, 2014

What is alone time when you have a two month old and a wild and crazy three year old?  My husband and I are dying for a night out, just the two of us.  We were actually looking forward to having a date night because my parents were coming to town.  However, thanks to Mother Nature plans were cancelled because we got snow, ice and extremely cold temps - AGAIN.  That's when we decided that we'd make it an early Valentine's Day date night in together.  With weather like this, who really wants to dress up and go out anyways?

I needed to get out of the house to keep my sanity so I headed over to Walmart to grab a few things for our date night.  This year we decided to forgo Valentine's cards or cheesy gifts because let's be honest, those cards just get pushed to the side and I spend weeks eating those chocolates I don't need.  I decided that this year I would create a romantic evening for just the two of us.  This was something we really needed.  I started by picking a few of our favorite snacks, some champagne and a movie.  We would spend the evening snuggled up in bed just relaxing and enjoying some alone time finally.  As I was browsing, I stopped in the pharmacy area to grab some things and spotted the K-Y Yours+ Mine personal lubricants.  That was definitely a perfect way to spice up our date night - so I threw it into the cart too.  Nothing says Valentine's Day more than K-Y Yours+Mine lubricants to set the mood.

I knew that our Valentine's Day night in would be the perfect evening for us, so I really wanted to put some thought into my gift.  I decided to create a Love Tray for my husband and I to enjoy on our date night in.
Here's what I decided on:

Champagne -- Okay, I love my champs.  But nothing tastes sweeter than a nice glass of bubble while cozied up to your man by the fire.  While it may not be Dom or Cristal, a nice cold glass of champagne can get anyone relaxed.

Sweet and Salty Treats -- To go along with our romantic evening, I decided to make our treats sweet and salty.  I found some graham sticks that we dipped into a sweet yogurt dip along with some cut up apples and marshmallows.  Then I grabbed a bag of our favorite salty Sea Salt chips because these things are heaven!

Movie -- It's Valentine's Day so of course we needed a gushy one like P.S. I Love You.   I probably should have thrown in some (or a whole box) tissues too.  My husband wasn't annoyed or anything...

K-Y Yours+Mine lubricants -- Let's be honest here, it doesn't hurt to encourage a little intimacy on your Valentine's date night.  Plus the K-Y Yours+Mine collection offers special lubricants for both man and woman, so it works in each person's favor.  Luckily I snagged the limited edition pack that offers a special deal for and  If I would have thought ahead of time, I could have had deliver us fresh ingredients to create our own dinner together for our date night.  Then, I could have used my credits to order our movie.  I guess now I have an excuse for another date night in the future.

This early Valentine's date in was way overdue.  I'm so glad I finally had the opportunity to reconnect with the hubster as well as take a second to enjoy adult time with the help of K-Y Yours+Mine personal lubricants.  It was the alone we needed and really craved -- being parents of two little ones is hard work!  My love tray was the perfect touch to our evening -- especially the K-Y Date Night Yours+ Mine personal lubricants.  Finally a moment to enjoy the company of each other and reconnect.

How would you celebrate a #KYdatenight with your special one?

These Babes are Made For Walking with the Juppy Baby Walker + Giveaway

Sunday, January 26, 2014

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I am not a winter girl.  I have told my husband this time and time again -- I need warmth and sunshine to keep my spirits up...otherwise expect a grumpy wife until spring hits.

What I love most about spring is the ability to get Cohen out to run around and get that stink out that makes him oh such a boy.  I'm definitely looking even more forward to  spring this year not just because this winter has been horrific but because we have a new swing set in the backyard and I know we will be spending more of our time outside when the sun is shining and the weather isn't tail freezing cold.  However, now I have Lola to add to the mix so I'm thinking of creative ways to keep her busy and moving without just keeping her on a blanket all season long.

I remember the moment Cohen was able to pull himself up on things and stand, he loved to hold our hands or fingers and practice walking about the house.  However, this takes a toll on your back and joints, so I could never last as long and as you can guess, baby no likey.  I recently came across the Juppy Baby Walker and was completely intrigued with this product.  Basically you place your baby in the carrier part and then the adult uses the straps to hold your little one up and practice walking around.  What I love about the Juppy Baby Walker is that the straps are adjustable so I can use it and then pass Lola off to my husband and he can make the straps longer so he's not bending over too much and hurting his back.  Plus the Juppy is so much safer than the conventional walker because it is adult assisted rather than allowing your little one to roll and scoot around on wheels and have the risk of falling downstairs (like I did when I was a baby).  While Lola is obviously not quite big enough to use this, it will be perfect for her come spring and summer!  I love the soft hand grips that allow you to hold on safely without the risk of dropping your little one or having them slip through the harness.

Another fabulous feature of the Juppy Baby Walker is the fact that is portable and can fit into your purse or diaper bag.  I can fold it up and throw it into the diaper bag as we head out to the park or playground.  Then I know Lola will be able to have fun moving around and not be confined to my baby carrier or blanket -- so both kids will be getting their stinks out!

The Juppy Baby Walker is the perfect solution for your little ones who are just starting to explore the walking world but aren't quite strong enough yet.  It helps teach your babe balance while allowing you to keep your normal and natural posture so you aren't hurting your back bending over and holding their hands like we would normally do.  The Juppy Baby Walker is safe and convenient and the perfect solution for your busy, exploring baby.

Milky! It Does a Booby Good + Giveaway

Thursday, January 23, 2014

Miss Lola girl is already 11 pounds 8 ounces!  This kid loves her bottle and will consume usually 4 ounces a feeding and sometimes more!  I'm very meticulous about adding the correct amount in each bottle and storing it in the fridge for the day's feedings.  Recently I have really been able to freeze a bunch of milk in preparation for my return back to three months really.  But the more I can freeze, the more I can keep her on breastmilk until her first birthday.  However, about a month ago I started to get really concerned about my milk supply.  I'd wait about four or five hours to pump and I'd only get about 5 ounces at a time.  Now, some of you may freak about and say 5 ounces!  That's a ton!  Well, yes, it's a great amount.  However, I normally can get about 9 or 10 ounces a pumping session so I knew something was up.

I started to do some research on how to increase my supply.  Most websites suggested drinking more water and making sure I was getting enough sleep.  Okay, let's be serious here -- I have a newborn and a three year old.  Ha!  Sleep!  Quit being so cray cray...
But these sites also talked a lot about Fenugreek, a supplement that increases your overall milk supply. Now I'm not one that can always be taking pills let alone remember to take them for that matter!  However I really wanted to give this Fenugreek a try - or at least find something conveninent that contained Fenugreek  to see if it would actually help boost my milk supply.  Then I remembered an episode of Tia and Tamera where the girls created a product called Milky! that was intended just for this reason.  I knew I had to find out more about Milky! to see if it could help my milk situation out.  Plus it was a product created and tested out by moms so I knew it had to be legit!

Why does Milky! work you ask?
Well, check out some of the ingredients:
Fenugreek - increases overall milk supply
Fennel - promotes faster let-down to alleviate baby's colic symptoms
Ginger - helps relieve upset stomach
Chamomile - eases tension in mothers
Roobios - delivers natural anti-oxidants

As I was reading more information on Milky!, I learned that it was designed by a pediatrician and is made from organic herbs.  The purpose of Milky! is to boost the overall quality of your breast milk supply as well as the amount you produce.  It comes in convenient little bottles that you can throw into your purse or diaper bag so it's perfect for when you are on the go -- which most moms are anyways!  This was definitely a product I wanted to try to help boost my milk for my little Lola.

The recommended dosage of Milky! is two bottles a day - one in the morning and one in the afternoon.   It has a strawberry flavor that is really pretty good and goes down quite smoothly.  After one day of Milky! I totally noticed a difference in my milk supply.  It gradually got back to where it was and now I'm able to maintain my supply again.  This has been a huge relief because with my son I was able to pump for over six months.  My goal with Lola is to pump at least through the summer so now I'm confident that I have the option of Milky! to boost my supply if it starts to get low again.  I definitely am going to recommend Milky! to a few of my friends who are struggling with their own milk supplies.

But just wait!
You can win your own box of Milky! here on High Heels and Hot Deals!  C

Lola - 2 Months Old

Sunday, January 19, 2014

I'm not quite sure how two weeks has already flown by??  I had my six week postpartum check up a few weeks ago and my doctor said the same thing -- "Has it already been six weeks?"

This time around seems to be going by much faster.  Maybe because I have a three year old as well or maybe because I'm really dreading the head back to work.  I woke up to an alarm yesterday and headed up to South Bend to host a baby shower for my sister in law.  It was really hard to wake up to that alarm and made me realize that I'm thankful I don't have to go back to work yet because mentally and emotionally, I'm just not ready.  Plus I really missed my kids and that's another sign to me that the time isn't right to head back to work.  I still have almost three months left at home so I'm going to enjoy it as much as I possibly can!

My Lola girl is growing in so many ways!  Please note her serious model look in the picture above.  Future Ford Model?  Quite possibly.

Here's what's she's be up to lately:

Size:  Our two month appointment is Tuesday - which I'm dreading because it's the first round of shots. :(  I always get so sad but then I remember how as a mom I'm doing what's best for my child by giving her immunizations!  I'm thinking she weighs around 12 or 13 lbs now.  She's definitely in 0-3 month clothing and some 3 month but it still is a little big on her.

Eating:  Little girl eats about 4-5 oz every 3 hours -- I know, hungry hippo.  We just bumped it up yesterday from her normal 4 oz because by 6 o'clock she would turn into a ravenous, angry beast and make our lives miserable until bedtime.  I'm hoping this ounce change will help out with the evenings a bit more because normally she's such a happy, cuddly baby.  If she decides she doesn't want 5 ounces at a feeding I'm okay with that too.  My milk production is over abundant so if I have to throw away an ounce, I'm okay with that at this point.

Sleeping:  Lola gives us a good solid 5-6 hours stretch at night.  We feed her around 7:30 or 8 and she'll go down until 2 for her next feeding.  Then she's down again until about 7:30.  However, the past two nights she's been going until 4 which I can't tell you how much of a difference that has made in my own life.  I actually woke up before her last night to pump because she decided to go the full 8 hours!

Likes:  She is still a snuggly baby girl and loves to be held.  Lola is becoming more of a fan of bath time, loves music and enjoys having conversations with you in baby language.

Dislikes:  Miss Diva definitely does not enjoy being tired.  If she is going to bed and is super overly tired, Lord have mercy on you because she is a hot mess!  And don't even think about making her wait for her food -- she wants her bottle and she wants it now!

Milestones:  Lola loves to smile at you and is the master cooer.  She is starting to recognize voices and faces now which is fun to see.  I love when she stops dead in her tracks the second she hears Cohen's voice -- she sure loves her big brother!

I may have a slight obsession with headbands.  But I totally blame the fact that the poor kid has no hair so she must wear them or else she will be confused for a boy.  Unfortunately she probably won't get hair until she's two like I did -- sorry kiddo.  I probably should learn how to make them so I don't go broke buying them all the time!

Oh Happy Baby!
