Lola - 2 Months Old

Sunday, January 19, 2014

I'm not quite sure how two weeks has already flown by??  I had my six week postpartum check up a few weeks ago and my doctor said the same thing -- "Has it already been six weeks?"

This time around seems to be going by much faster.  Maybe because I have a three year old as well or maybe because I'm really dreading the head back to work.  I woke up to an alarm yesterday and headed up to South Bend to host a baby shower for my sister in law.  It was really hard to wake up to that alarm and made me realize that I'm thankful I don't have to go back to work yet because mentally and emotionally, I'm just not ready.  Plus I really missed my kids and that's another sign to me that the time isn't right to head back to work.  I still have almost three months left at home so I'm going to enjoy it as much as I possibly can!

My Lola girl is growing in so many ways!  Please note her serious model look in the picture above.  Future Ford Model?  Quite possibly.

Here's what's she's be up to lately:

Size:  Our two month appointment is Tuesday - which I'm dreading because it's the first round of shots. :(  I always get so sad but then I remember how as a mom I'm doing what's best for my child by giving her immunizations!  I'm thinking she weighs around 12 or 13 lbs now.  She's definitely in 0-3 month clothing and some 3 month but it still is a little big on her.

Eating:  Little girl eats about 4-5 oz every 3 hours -- I know, hungry hippo.  We just bumped it up yesterday from her normal 4 oz because by 6 o'clock she would turn into a ravenous, angry beast and make our lives miserable until bedtime.  I'm hoping this ounce change will help out with the evenings a bit more because normally she's such a happy, cuddly baby.  If she decides she doesn't want 5 ounces at a feeding I'm okay with that too.  My milk production is over abundant so if I have to throw away an ounce, I'm okay with that at this point.

Sleeping:  Lola gives us a good solid 5-6 hours stretch at night.  We feed her around 7:30 or 8 and she'll go down until 2 for her next feeding.  Then she's down again until about 7:30.  However, the past two nights she's been going until 4 which I can't tell you how much of a difference that has made in my own life.  I actually woke up before her last night to pump because she decided to go the full 8 hours!

Likes:  She is still a snuggly baby girl and loves to be held.  Lola is becoming more of a fan of bath time, loves music and enjoys having conversations with you in baby language.

Dislikes:  Miss Diva definitely does not enjoy being tired.  If she is going to bed and is super overly tired, Lord have mercy on you because she is a hot mess!  And don't even think about making her wait for her food -- she wants her bottle and she wants it now!

Milestones:  Lola loves to smile at you and is the master cooer.  She is starting to recognize voices and faces now which is fun to see.  I love when she stops dead in her tracks the second she hears Cohen's voice -- she sure loves her big brother!

I may have a slight obsession with headbands.  But I totally blame the fact that the poor kid has no hair so she must wear them or else she will be confused for a boy.  Unfortunately she probably won't get hair until she's two like I did -- sorry kiddo.  I probably should learn how to make them so I don't go broke buying them all the time!

Oh Happy Baby!

  3. She is simply perfect.
Time really does fly when you're juggling life with little ones. All of a sudden, BAM, they're reading to you, tying their own shoes, and not wanting to be hugged in front of their classmates... or maybe that is just my story :)

  6. Too funny about the headbands, but I had my daughter dressed in pink and people still sometimes mistook her for a boy. Who knows?

You live near South Bend? My hometown is in SW Michigan!

  15. She is so precious! I've never enjoyed watching my kids get shots. Talk about horror stories! I didn't even enjoy watching my teens get their shots before our mission trip to Honduras last summer. :)

It's wonderful that Lola sleeps so well. I remember when my kids were babies- I was so tired. Even an extra hour of sleep made such a big difference!
