Indy Mini Marathon Training - Week #5

Wowzers this was a rough week.  I was supposed to log 24 miles this week and only got to 18.  I missed my 3 mile run Tuesday because the stroller was in Kurtis' car (which was a shame because it was a whopping 70 degrees that day!) and today I only got in 5 miles and just stepped off the treadmill because honestly I was bored.  I can't even show you my weekly progress on my Nike+ program because I didn't get in my full 24 miles. 
Wah wah.

How do I feel you ask?
Okay to be completely honest I'm totally bummed out with myself that I didn't make this week's mile goals.  However my body is completely exhausted.  Lola is going through a horrible sleep regression (I'll update you on this soon) and I feel even more tired than I did when she was a newborn.  I know the 18 miles I did log is still great, but it's not what I was aiming for with my training.

My Goals for this Race:
 My plan is to still be able to run the entire race - snail speed if needed.  As long as I'm outside, I'm really fine when it comes to distance.  Well, unless I have a 30+ lb stroller and 834928394 hills and inclines.  But I'm confident I'll be able to reach this goal.

What I Want to Do This Week:
I'm hoping to get a few more runs outside - especially Friday's because it's a big 9 miler.  This week's focus is on speed but I'm aiming for endurance since that's my own personal goal.  Oh yeah, I'd love to get in a full four hours of sleep this week too...

  1. You've got this. I know those weeks when training isn't what you want it to be can stink. But, look at it this way - you are just giving your muscles a chance to rest and recover. Rest and recovery are just as critical as building stamina and strength.

  6. It seems that so many kiddos (& spouses) are having the worst time getting to sleep. I am blaming everything that went wrong last week on the "lost" hour. I hate the time change; it just throws my body for a loop.
    You are amazing, and you will rock the rest of your training. I wish you the best!

  8. You're doing great! Keep it up. Don't get down if you don't make all your miles one week. We all have off weeks.
