Another Milestone With My Little Buddy

As a teacher, the end of a the school year is always quite blissful.  You send your students off for the summer while you pack away your room to gather cobwebs until you return in August (well, July for us.  Seriously, don't make me cry about this.)  But this year the end of school has  a whole new meaning to it for me as a mom -- Cohen completed his first full year of preschool.

I am having a hard time grasping the fact that my little man is indeed growing up.  The kid is a talking machine and the things (appropriate...mostly) that come out of his mouth are fascinating.  For example, he said to me the other day, "Mom, don't do that.  That is dangerous."  Hello buzz words!  He has grown up so much this year and has such a fun and sassy personality.  Cohen is a good mix of Kurtis and myself -- he looks just like his dad yet is so social and friendly like his mom -  (cue the drums - ba dum ch!)  He loves to make friends and is at the Mr. Independent stage these days.  We were at our friend's birthday party and he says to me, "Mom, you go over there."
For real, kid.  Make me cry just a little bit.

I think it's also hard for me to deal with the change.  I really grew to enjoy his teachers.  They were so great to him and always kept me in the loop by sending me notes, emails, pictures and texts.  I loved the familiar faces, looking for his classroom work and knowing exactly where his little cubby was in his class.  But now that will all change next year as he will be in the "big room" as he calls.  I'm sad that he will move up to the Pre-K 3's room, but I'm also excited to see what new things he will learn this coming year.  This week was a trial week in his new classroom because it's camp.  Kurtis said he no longer clings to his legs yet runs to see his friends in the morning on the playground.

My little guy is growing up.  I probably need to get used to this now.

Love you to the moon and back, buddy.
