Little Dude Summer Wardrobe Essentials

Thursday, April 28, 2016

Every summer I try to buy a few essential pieces for Cohen's wardrobe.  While 50% of our time is spent outside at the pool, the other 50% is spent either dressed or sleeping.  So I figure if I stick to a few favorite items, we will be good!

1.  Carter's Camo Shorts -- I have bought the kid a pair of these since he was six months old.  Last year he decided to rip them the first time he wore them, but Carter's is awesome and let me exchange them for a new pair.  I usually go for the drawstring and elastic waist because Cohen doesn't have time for buttons.  He's WAY too busy in the summer so I keep it simple.  Plus these shorts go with just about everything.  I can dress them up or have him go cas - they are a super versatile piece for his wardrobe!

2.  Under Armour Captain America Shirt -- Cohen is a huge fan of Captain America so I knew this shirt would be perfect for him!  With the new movie coming out this summer, we are loving it even more.  Under Armour is always great quality and can sustain my wild child through 99% of his crazy shenanigans.

3.  Under Armour Athletic Shorts -- The older Cohen gets, the more comfy he wants to dress.  I love the pattern on these shorts and the material is super soft.  They also play double duty for both play time and sports time.

4.  Osh-Kosh Ringer Tank -- These tanks are perfect to throw on before heading to the pool as well as for those hot, sticky summer nights that are spent running around with the neighborhood kids.  They are a light cotton material too which makes it perfect for summertime.

5.  Nike Shoes -- One of our summer goals is to learn how to tie our shoes.  Cohen was dead set on buying a pair of Nikes with ties, but I spend an extra minute or two tying them.  I love the velcro on these shoes which makes slipping them on and off quick and easy - and no bending over to tie unruly laces!

I am so excited for summer!  Even though I will now be toting around three kids, I'm anxious for busy pool days that lead to long afternoon naps and late evening dinners.
Bring it on, Summer!  Hurry up!

What are some of your favorite summer essentials for boys?

*A photograph of each of my children, once a week in 2016*

This kid had his last program in PreK.  Tonight we had Kinder Open House and the second the kids were released he waved and walked away.  Cue the waterworks please because I'm a mess already.  I am dreading PreK graduation next month...
(I had to crop out the other two kids so excuse the oddly shaped picture.)

This one is giving me a run for my money and I'm pretty sure it gets worse everyday.  Here she is just doing her thing in Remy's crib.  I swear my hair is getting whiter each day I'm with her.  But I'm pretty sure this is karma.
Sweet Pea loved the music, sights and sounds at Cohen's program, despite it being past her bedtime.  She even stayed up past 9 and woke up at 1 ready to party again.  The kid has a serious case of FOMO.

Pop the Champs and Let's Go to Target

Thursday, April 21, 2016

Yes my friends.  You read that right.  I am a #momlife survivor.
Kurtis was gone on business this week and I had to hold down the fort - just me, myself and my three wild children.
Actually, things went off without a hitch and I didn't even sprout one gray hair.

So I think this calls for a celebration.

You lucky people can win a $25 Target gift card because I feel like I need to share my happiness with you.

Enter the Rafflecopter below.

Now pop that champs, people!

This guy is all about jokes lately.  However, 99% of the time they will be about poop, butts or farts.

I think we have gone through four containers of bubbles since last Friday.  But the kid loves bubbles, even if half of them end up on her shirt.  How cute is she though, runny nose and all?

Biggy girl right here loves to sit up whenever she can.  She is a bit wobbly still but nothing a little Abs of Steel can't fix.

Remy 6 Month Update

Tuesday, April 19, 2016

Remy // 6 months
Weight:18lbs  12 oz
Height: 27 inches

Just look at those thighs please.  Oh my little Chunkers who likes to be in the 90th percentile in both height and weight.  I'm dying here because the extremely large storage bin of rompers will only make it until June at this rate.  Maybe once she starts crawling she will burn some of those calories off?  If not I guess I have to go shopping.  Darn.
Can we take a second to recognize the fact that my baby is already half a year old?
Stop. It. Now.

Here is what Remy has been up to the last month:

As I mentioned, she is a biggy girl!  Remy is still comfortably wearing size 3 diapers and now sports 6 month and 6-9 month clothes.  I'm crossing my fingers it stays warm because the long sleeved stuff no longer is an option...unless 3/4 length shirts are appropriate for babies.

Remy gets 4-5 bottles a day.  Usually she gets a 6oz in the morning, two 4 oz bottles and then a 7 oz before bed.  If she wakes up in the middle of the night I'll give her the 6oz bottle then and usually a 3 oz bottle when she wakes up for the day.  Girlfriend gets oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, a veggie for lunch and then a veggie and some YoBaby for dinner.  I've started mixing up some of the veggies for her meals and so far, so good with the different combos!  Our goals this month are to introduce the sippy cup and Puffs.

I have to be real, 5 months was a real a-hole.  My bad for thinking that we sailed through the whole 4 month sleep regression stage with ease.  Remy hated napping and she also hated sleeping at night.  The kid was waking up two or three times a night and I.was.dying.  But normally we are down to a morning nap, an afternoon nap and sometimes a quick evening nap to get us to bedtime.  Remy is ready around 7 and usually goes down without a fight but staying asleep is her weakness.  I'm hoping to transition her out of the Zippadee Zip sack this month and do some sleep training to get her to fall asleep on her own.  The kid hates pacifiers but loves to suck on blankets, so I need to find her a few blankets she can use as her nasty sleep sucking blanket.  Gag, I know.

Remmers has cut her third and fourth tooth this past month, both on the bottom.  She loves her toes and loves to rock on her back from side to side.  Remy still isn't a fan of rolling, which I'm okay with, but she has figured out how to pull her legs under her and move herself in a stationary circle on her stomach.  We are pretty good at sitting up but still working on those ab muscles just a little bit.  I'm hoping that sleeping through the night will be a milestone for next month.  Please Jesus.

I have been making the kids get outside and the last several days have been gorgeous, so we have taken full advantage of it.  Since she isn't mobile yet I will put her in the baby swing and let her look around and swing away.  The kid will be content for a good amount of time in that swing.  Remy also loves car rides and the stroller, especially since we put her in the big girl seat when we go out on walks.  Her brother is probably her most favorite person in the world too.

All the sleep.  She also hates being overly tired ironically.  Also, for some reason she hates when you sit down to rock her when she's tired too.  And she hates going down for naps.  I'm telling you, there some kind of pattern going on when it comes to sleeping...

Remy Elizabeth,
Happy Half Birthday little girl!  I'm excited to introduce you to my favorite season which will consist of evening walks, pool time, playing at the park and most importantly - watermelon.  I have no problem keeping you as my baby forever so if you want to stop growing that would be great!  I apologize for my lack of patience with you lately when it has come to your sleeping habits.  I promise to get us all more Vitamin D and hopefully you will choose to sleep just a little bit better for Mom.  You sure have a sweet little smile and your voice is the cutest sound in the world.  Love you wittle sweet pea!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Monday, April 18, 2016

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that Saturday was Opening Day for baseball here in our little town.  My husband has been in heaven the last few weeks as he takes Cohen to practice.  Baseball was his sport, but since it was the same season as Track during high school, he had to choose and he went with Track.  Though he won't admit it, I think it broke his heart to have to quit baseball.  However now that he has a son, he can enjoy the sports as a coach and dad this time around!
I don't know if it's the nice weather or what, but in the last month something has just clicked in Cohen.  During his last basketball game he actually got into it and scored two baskets -- it was like he realized that he really loved playing all of a sudden.  But now that we have jumped right into baseball, the kid is doing absolutely amazing.  Cohen is patient (I know, I just used patient and Cohen in the same sentence), listens really well to his coaches and actually gets into the game.  He was showing me how he steps through to throw the ball and kept telling me that he had to remember to keep his eye on the ball.  We really lucked out and got some awesome coaches again too.  I was so proud of him Saturday that I could cry just thinking about it.  He is one of the best hitters on his team and actually was watching while in the outfield (unlike 3/4 of his team) and caught a ball to throw to second base.  I'm excited for this season and can't wait to see how he grows over the next two months!

But the 8 am games I'm not too thrilled about...

This one even enjoyed the sunshine and warm weather.  She was quite content sitting on a blanket with me for the majority of the game.

And then there's Lola, who really got into the game, yelling for her brother.  But this was after she ate every single snack I brought for her.

Here's to a great season!

*A photograph of each of my children, once a week in 2016*

I had Cohen's Spring conference today with his teacher and I can't explain how proud of him both Kurtis and I feel.  He has grown leaps and bounds and continues to learn so much that my teacher heart could just burst.  His PreK teacher is amazing -- AMAZING.  And I am so thankful he had the opportunity to move to this class when Remy was born.

This one is filled will all kinds of piss and vinegar.  Lately she will do something she knows she should be doing - like drinking my coffee when I'm not looking or jumping on the couch.  When I tell her to stop, she looks at me with those big brown eyes and says, "Sooooweeeee!"

Six months my friends -- SIX MONTHS!  I'll have her update there soon but let me remind YOU Remy, you are six months.  Now

Terrible TWOSday - Meet the Tornado

Tuesday, April 12, 2016

This is Lola.

If you have been following me long enough now, then you know this darling face.  However, I have to be honest.  Two is not very pretty on this kid.
But more on the WWII fits another day.

Today I want to introduce to you the child also known as Tornado.  Why do my husband and I refer to her as this?  Because she is just that.  A tornado.  She can literally destroy a perfectly clean and organized space in a matter of seconds, if not milliseconds, all so effortlessly and innocently.
I mean overturned baskets of toys, blocks scattered everywhere, baby dolls and bottles in every nook and cranny possible - this kid has no stopping point.  We pick up her room at least twice a day and by the time she goes to bed it's a mess again.  Today I was putting away Remy's clothes in her room and by the time I had turned my back to put the clothes on the hangers and then turned back around, Lola has already pulled three pairs of shoes and a pack of diapers out of the closet.  Then she looked at me with those big brown eyes and said, "Oops.  Sowee Mama."

I mean, how can you argue with that?

If only the Roomba picked up toys too...

*A photograph of each of my children, once a week in 2016*

We have thoroughly enjoyed our week of Spring Break this week.  This kid is killing me with the things he learns.  Today I got a play-by-play of how Minecraft works.  Don't worry, I'm still confused.

I attempted potty training last weekend but Miss Lola has no interest right now.  And I'm okay with that.  I won't rush her and she'll let me know when she's ready I'm sure.

Girlfriends HATES tummy time.  So I put her on her blanket in her room with the sun shining on her and I think it kicked in some endorphins.  Look at that face!  She's got some serious planking skills too.

*A photograph of each of my children, once a week in 2016*

This guy had his last basketball game on Friday.  It only took 9 games to finally get into the groove of things because not only did he make 1 basket, he made 2!  Now onto baseball season...

Paging Dr. Lola!  Lately she has had a huge obsession with Doc McStuffins and her doctor kit.  She brought it along with her when we dropped Cohen off at school the other day and even checked his teacher's heart.  Gotta love her.

This blue eyed baby is popping her third and fourth tooth.  She's lucky she's damn cute because this sleep regression she's going through is killing me softly.

March Photo Dump

Monday, April 4, 2016

I'm getting really pissed off at my phone for telling me I don't have enough storage.  And I'm going to go out on a limb and assume it's because of my 1,253 photos that I have stored on my phone.

I have decided to do a monthly photo dump of my favorite pictures from my phone.  That way I have them saved somewhere and I can delete them off my phone so it will stop giving me the stupid storage message.  Plus my kids are really cute and you wanted to see more pictures of them too, right?

Cutest little bathers.  Even if one of them played in her poop during nap time.

Classic sibling love - Lola playing mommy, Cohen holing his cute baby and Brady succumbing to projectile spit up.  I'd feel badly about the last one if he wasn't begging at the time.

Afternoons with my girlfriends are quickly becoming my favorite.  While we miss our Cohen at school, two kids is much more manageable than one.

Cohen lost his second tooth this month and enjoyed Donuts with Dad at school.  Aren't my boys so handsome?

Lola and I have been enjoying our daily weekly Target runs and grocery stops in our jammies.

Sleep has been a hot mess for this one lately.  But the good news is I'm almost finished decorating her room (six months later) and she has enough headbands for everyday of the week for the next year.
